iPhone 1st Gen (2G) Screen Assembly replacement
Here is the some of the symptoms for Apple iPhone 1st Gen (2G) LCD/touch/digitizer repair/replacement:
- - Do you have cracked glass on your iPhone 2G but touch screen and LCD is functioning normally?
- - Are you experiencing no sense for touch but everything else is functioning?
- - Do you have cracked glass and no touch sense but good pictures on the LCD on your iPhone?
- - Are you experiencing no picture, no picture on some area, lines, crack on the LCD but it senses touch?
- - Do you have iPhone 2G that some areas of the touch screen not functioning at all but rest is fine?
How to resolve?
In order resolve the problem we need to replace Apple iPhone 1st Gen (2G) Display Assembly (Glass+Digitizer+LCD).
Remove the SIM card from the phone
Using an iPod opening tool, remove black plastic Antenna Cover from the bottom back of the iPhone 2G.
Remove three Phillips screws from the back and it's ready to separate the back metal case. Using a dental pick and a spudger separate the back metal case from the the phone. And disconnect the headphone jack cable from the logic board.
By removing antenna cables and three screws that holds the board, logic board and battery are ready to be disassembled. But be aware that there is glue that holds the battery. And before disassembling the logic board don’t forget to disconnect the cables that connect to other parts of the phone.
Remove eight screws around iPhone 2G frame. Separate the display assembly from the frame. Install the new display assembly (Glass / Touch / LCD) to the frame and follow the instruction reversely to assemble up the iPhone 2G.
